Diamond engagement rings are expensive because of the four Cs – the quality parameters on which the gems are judged. The higher is the quality expensive will be the diamond and it will go beyond the purchasing power of the people. These four Cs are color, cut, clarity and carat. While buying a diamond engagement ring, make sure that it comes with quality certificate issued by AGS or GIA or any other reputed gem certification institution.

The more colorless is the diamond the higher will be its cost. The color is judged on a scale from D [which is colorless] to Z [light yellow]. You should buy a diamond that is place in between if budget is your prime concern. Cut of the diamond refers to the shape in order to reflect the light for brilliance and fire. Clarity refers to the amount of flaws the diamond has inside of it. The fewer flaws mean higher quality.

Flawless diamonds are the most expensive. But you can always settle for buying the diamond engagement rings whose diamonds have invisible flaws as these are less expensive. Carat weight of expensive diamonds is always on the higher side. Smaller diamonds have lower weight and you can buy them easily for engagement rings.
